Robert G. (Bob) Forster

Obituary

Bob was born on January 26, 1944, in Maywood, California. He passed away while in St. Mary’s Hospital ICU Dept. on March 29, 2022.

He attended school in Pomona, California and graduated from Claremont High School in 1961. He also attended Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut, California.

Bob worked as a machinist/mold maker all his adult life. His love of motorcycle and automobile racing kept him busy in his free time. He started motorcycle “dirt bike racing” in 1963 and in 1969 he began racing automobiles on circle tracks, primarily dirt tracks. He raced NASCAR stock cars, and late models as well as IMCA Modified cars. Bob’s automobile racing became a family sport with his wife, Donna, and daughters Diane, Cindy and Christine accompanying him to most of the races. He won over 200 events as well as individual racetrack, NASCAR and IMCA championships.

Bob was well liked by just about everyone who knew him. He had such a fun sense of humor and was always helping friends with their race cars.

Bob and his family also enjoyed boating and fishing and kept their pontoon boat at Big Bear Lake every summer for several years. One of his family’s favorite things to do there was to tie up at the dam and eat lunch while his line was in the water.

Bob is survived by his wife of 59 years, Donna, his daughters Diane Forster Dennis, Cindy Lopez and Christine Ryan as well as grandchildren Shelby Dennis, Cameron Dennis, Robert (Bobby) Lopez (Elijah), Michael Lopez, Patricia (Tricia) Lopez-Cariveau (Daniel), and John Ryan (Amy) as well as great-grandchildren Riley Ryan, Bay Rose Ryan, Athena Jade (AJ) Cariveau and Alexie (Lexie Lou) Cariveau.

Also, his sister, Patricia (Patty) Ewart, niece Laurie Henkel, nephews Jim Ewart (Linda) and Bill Ewart, great-nephews Eric Henkel, Wesley Ewart and Bradley Ewart and great-niece Sara Henkel.

Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Hazel Forster Bonham, his father, Robert W. Forster, and a nephew, Larry Robert Ewart.

Bob was the best husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin anyone could ever wish for. We will always love him and hold him in our hearts.

The family is planning a Celebration of his life on May 21, 2022 at the family home.
