Carolyn A. Hertz, 62, of Claremont, passed away September 9, 2005 (of breast cancer) at Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center. Miss Hertz was born November 6, 1942, in Pomona and has been a life long resident of Claremont. 
 
She was an early childhood development teacher for 40 years, most recently teaching at the Peter Piper Preschool, Pomona, for the past 26 years. Carolyn was educated at the Brown School for Girls, Glendora, Girls Collegiate, Claremont, Claremont High School, Mt. San Antonio College, Walnut, and studied early childhood education at Pacific Oaks College, Pasadena. She was a member of the Claremont Presbyterian Church, played viola in the Claremont Symphony Orchestra for forty-four years, a member of the Musician's Club of Pomona Valley, PEO Sisterhood Chapter MG, Mu Phi Epsilon, and the American Guild of Organists, Pasadena Chapter. Carolyn was the principal organist at the United Methodist Church, La Verne, for thirty-three years. 
 
Surviving is her brother and sister-in-law, Georgine and Karl Hertz of Claremont; niece, Kristine Snodgrass of Claremont, nephews Paul Hertz of Azusa and Steven Hertz of Claremont; and her aunt Edna Hertz of Claremont. 
 
Friends may call at Todd Memorial Chapel, Pomona, Friday from 4:00 until 8:00 p.m. Servic es will be held at the United Methodist Church of La Verne, Saturday at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be made in La Verne Cemetery. In honoring Carolyn's love of children, memorial contributions may be made to the David and Margaret Home, 1350 3rd St., La Verne, CA 91750. Todd Memorial Chapel, Pomona, is in charge of arrangements.
