Susan Everard (Monroe)

Yearbook quote: "There's something nice about everyone; but there's everything nice about Sue."

Died Feb 17, 2009 from complications of scleroderma

From Bill Monroe, Susan's husband:

Susan died on Feb 17, 2009, at 8:30 PM from a ruptured intestine.  She was suffering from a blockage in her lower bowels.  Her entire family was with her including Sofia, her 4 year old granddaughter who held her hand until the end.  Her family plans to sprinkle her ashes in the UW Arboretum sometime next spring per her request.  Susan knew for a long time she was dying and told her family last Christmas that this was likely her last time with all of us.  I took her to Kauai'i shortly before she died as she couldn't get warm here in Seattle.   She told me that was the first time she'd felt warm in the last six months. The lower bowel blockage occurred on the third day there and I took her to the local ER.  After two days in the hospital it became obvious she was on her last legs so I bought 2 first class tickets back to Seattle and had Sunny meet us at the airport and took her directly to the ER at Virginia Mason Hospital in Seattle where she died two days later.
